I went in for a counseling session and the school shrink told me to talk to the school Doc about anti-depressants. I came out with a 2 week packet of the pills. I took 1 and it screwed me up. 1 hour after I took it, my muscles felt tight. I couldn't walk fast, my neck/ jaw hurt, and a was VERY drowsy...yet my mind was completly awake and alert. I couldn't keep myself from closing my eyes...when I did it was very hard for me to muster the strength needed to open them again. I couldn't consentrate at school. When I got home I passed out asleep. My husband called and said I sounded like I was high. I went to work and exactly 12hrs and 15min. after taking only 1 pill...My heart was pounding...I felt like my entire being was shaky, I bumped into people, I dropped frys (burger-flipper :-p) and I even ran into the counter. Then I started to pass out. I Still have a slight head-ache from that 1 pill, it's now 4 days later. I took those pills back the very next day. Today I'm seeing the doc and telling him where to stuff it.
Has anyone else ever experienced all those symtoms in such a short time? Are there any after effects... Will this thing screw with my body?

Hi Karana,
It would be my suggestion to see a psychiatrist to see, if infact, you NEED an SSRI antidepressant like Celexa. If the need is there the doctor should explain the side effects (don't be afraid to ask). I think I can safely say you will have NO lasting bad affects to your body from one dose of Celexa. I can't speak for others on this board but if you read enough posts you will find many have had more serious reactions than you have.
Having said this, perhaps the biggest RISK of all, is not to take medications if you have a serious mental disorder.
Wish you the best
Geezer

Hi,
I was prescribed Celexa last year and after only a very small dose, I literally thought I was going to die from a a panic attack. The effect was so severe that Remeron, which normally knocks me right out, caused the symptoms to start up again. I abandoned that drug real fast and I think you're smart to do the same thing. There are plenty of other choices.
Don't get me wrong, I do understand that some side effects are unavoidable. But I don't think what we experienced is part of the deal.
