Hi! I am on a mix of wellbutrin in the morning (300mg) and effexor at night (300mg). I was wondering if anyone had noticed any problems with their endurance when they exercise??? I have been doing triathlons for years and since I have been on this medication I feel my endurance isnt what it used to be.

YES! I've been on Effexor (225 mg) for a month and Wellbutrutrin (300 mg) and Depakote (750 mg)for about six years. Before I used to be on Celexa with the Wellbutrin and Depakote. Since the Effexor, I've noticed I tire VERY easily while exercising, which never used to happen. 10 minutes into a "Spinning" class and I want off the bike! Anyone else out there?

You are on a hefty dose of Effexor. High dose Effexor can increase your blood pressure mildly, thats the most common reason to have to discontinue Effexor. Even a mild increase in your blood pressure from high dose Effexor could affect your endurance negatively. Have you kept up with your blood pressure since you have gotten on this dose of Effexor?
Just some thoughts from someone who has been on both of these meds and used to be a workout fantatic.

Thank you for your information - could I ask you a few questions? You said you used to be an exercise fanatic - does that mean you dont exercise anymore ? You also said you used to be on the medication - what was the reason you got off effexor?
Thanks,
Renee

> ReneeI still exercise but nowhere near as much as I used to. Ive become more sick in the last year and this has put a damper on my exercise. However I still exercise three to six times a week, although not intensely like I used to.
I quit the Effexor because it was mildly elevating my blood pressure. Not much, but too much to stay on it longterm. I took Effexor for about six months. Of that, three months was on a high dose and that was when I ran into the mild blood pressure elevations. I only got the BP elevation when I went above 150 mg in dosage. Like 225 mg and above. I found it was a fantastic antidepressant in the high dosages however. The reason high dose Effexor can elevate blood pressure is because it increases norephinephrine at medium and high dosages.
This is the end of the thread.
