Hi,
Just wanted to let everyone know how fantastic Prozac is ! Every week gets better. I have been taking it for about 3 months now. Life just seems worth living again, I actually leave the apartment and get stuff done and I really enjoy going out, being social ( I used to be V.shy ) and doing exercise !!!!!Wow. The only down side is my lack of libido, guess you can't have everything. Tried Wellbutrin, but we didn't agree.
Good luck everyone, hang in there, things can get better !
Regards Jane

Consider switching to desipramine or pamelor if sexual side effects are a problem.

Don't ever switch from Prozac as long as it works well for you.

> SpikeI would say that if something works for your mood, don't switch. I say this because if the thing you switch to doesn't work, and you go back to Prozac, there's no guaranty that it will work again the second time around. That has been my experience and the expereience of some other people on this board. Also, there's no guaranty you'll even be able to tolorate it the second time around. This is just my humble opinion.

> MBI agree .... I am sorry if I suggested to go out and switch medications now. And yes, people may not get benefits from a medication during a second trial. Also, I have heard many people develope tolerance to side effects over time. Finally, some individuals are treated for 9 to 12 months and sucessfully taper of medications without relapse .... so may have to accept some side effects for that brief period of time. And all medication have side effects! Just wanted you to know there are alternatives if side-effects become intolerable.

I think you are right. I think this is very important for people to know that there *are* alternatives. Some people take a med that doesn't agree with them and then they give up on meds in general. It's important to know the options, but also important to know the risks of switching from a med that is working.

> Regards JaneHey jane,
I know I am about 10 months late on your message, but I just found it and read it now.
I have been on prozac for about 2 months now, and at 80mg for only about 1 month. 3 days ago I started taking effexor as well. I was just wondering, what were things like during your 3 months, I mean, when did you start feeling really good, not just normal, but good? And how are you doing on now? still on it?
I have my doubts about prozac and need to decide whether or not to switch back to zoloft which I had great success on, but wanted to try and find something without sexual side effects.
This is the end of the thread.
