If someone told you they have social phobia and generalized anxiety disorder with occasional panic attacks, what med would you recommend first???????

No, it's not a riddle or a trick question. :)
thanks

Tina - Paxil™ (paroxetine) or other SSRI depending upon certain individual factors. I'm not sure if you have tried it, but that would be my first choice for you, if I were involved in your treatment. Remember, you have to get through the first month of hell (increased panic attacks, drowsiness, feeling like sh**, and other start-up side effects) before the Paxil really kicks in. So, I probably be on the phone to you at least once a week (for the first month), making sure that you were still plodding along, and helping with any of "blahness" that was occurring.

Hang in there, darling. - Cam

What do you think of Manerix. Is it indicated for these disorders??
What about my apparent intolerance for SSRI's? How could I counter-act those effects??

IIf you were personally involved in my treatment, I'd probably be cured instantly! I wish you worked out this way........ever thought of a tiny cross country move??? I could babysit while you were at work. :)

Sorry Tina, you live too close to the center of the universe for my liking (Toronto) ;^P but I'm sure that one of these days my wife an I will be out your wat for a visit.

Anyway, Manerix ™ (moclobemide) is an option to the SSRIs. It seems to have fewer side effects in general, but, as with most drugs that have few side effects, it seems to have less clinical effect (ie. does not work in a vast majority of people who have tried it. That is not to say that it will not work for you; when it dies work for someone, it usually works well.

Good luck Teeny! - Cam
