My condition

Posted by frozen on November 2, 2001, at 15:32:16

Hi, today i got the last diagnosis from my psychologist, it is of a mild
form of borderline personality disorder.
What are the first choice cures for this disorder?
-im not psychotic or with wierd ideas, at all, i suffer from depression that
is inabilitating me and my self image , so that im very frustrated that i
cant do something productive in my school life.
Are Maois antidepressants used in treating it?
All Ssri like drugs-also efexor- dont seem to help much my functioning,
apart from relieving a bit of depression and anxiety. My aim is to re-gain my
self-esteem and mental energy.
Anyone with any advices is welcome.

-my problem is also poor cognitive functioning, like scarcity of thoughts and inability to enjoy things as much as i did once

Hi Luca,
Just based on what you said in your post, I think looking at norepinephrine and/or dopamine meds would be the way to go for you. That's where the cognitive function, ability to enjoy, talkativeness around people, and such, comes from.

Anything that works on NE or dopamine is worth looking at.
