So far...my understanding is that Effexor withdrawl is VERY serious...and unlike withdrawl from other antidepressents.
Does anybody know why???
Does Effexor put a naturally occurring chemical in your body???
Then when one quits taking it, your body has to go back to making this chemical...which takes X time for your body to crank up the manufacturing???

Effexor has a very short half life, it leaves the system faster than many of the other ad's, thats why the withdrawal is worse. Prozac has a very long half life, therefore has fewer withdrawal problems. AD's do not add anything to your brain chemistry. They block some receptors that do not need to recieve serotonin, therefore allowing more to be recieved by the receptors that need more of the stuff to make you happy.

Thanks for the info.
I didn't really get that...you speak in good non-medical
terms!> So far...my understanding is that Effexor withdrawl is VERY serious...and unlike withdrawl from other antidepressents.

It's a little bit more complicated than that. If you really want to know the pharmacokinetics of Effexor, or other meds, follow one of Dr. Bob's links above, or do a search in a search engine, like GOOGLE go to: http://www.google.com
There is a lot of data available out here.
