I am back from the hospital for the weekend. I have had 8 ECT's. I dont even remember most of them. They didn't seem to help. If they did then it must have been very little because I dont notice an improvement. I was also on Zyprexa for a few weeks. That didn't seem to help eighter for my moderate depression. My depression was caused by Accutane by the way. The disgusting drug should be illegal. Anyway before I ended up in the hospital I had tried Paxil. After 1 week I was actually feeling quite good. Then I dont remember what happened but I guess the effect went away and so paxil no longer helped. I also tried SAM-E and that didn't seem to help eighter.
So now after some ECT which didn't seem to help much if at all, I have been put on Celexa.
What can I expect from the first week? If paxil helped previously then are the chances good that Celexa will help too?

adamie,
Wondered where you'd gone. Damn, ECT...well, if I remember right, this was the treatment you'd hoped for. I'm truly sorry it hasn't seemed to work.
On to your Celexa question: I don't have any personal experience with the stuff, but from what I've read it seems to be a "milder" SSRI, with practically no (yet discovered) secondary properties. That could be a very good thing.
I've found some pretty interesting info on the post-Prozac antidepressants on this site:

The sections titled "Defining 'Is'", "De-spinning In Vitro Data" and "The Adverse Effect Profiles of the Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors: Relationship to In Vitro Pharmacology " should help you most in figuring out what to expect from Celexa.
Best,
