Okay, very basically, Serzone makes me stoned. Like, unable to drive, distracted from reality sort of stoned. Has anyone else experienced this?
I smoke marijuana about twice per week, which seems relevent. Serzone does increase the effect of the pot, which I am aware of. Does anyone know about any other interaction with other street drugs (namely LSD orhallucenigenic mushrooms)?
I must also admit that I "forget" my meds every so often (every few days) and the stoned sort of feeling is much stronger when I take it again. The biggest problem is that I stopped taking Serzone once, and I was thrown into the deepest and most closely suicidal depression I have ever experienced.
What to do?

Serzone made me trip like I was on LSD for the first two days, then that went away. If the Serzone is helping, I would say don't miss doses and don't smoke pot with it. Also, maybe if you don't smoke pot, you'll remember your doses better.

My pdoc dislikes Serzone - says it is extremely sedating for most people; makes you like a zombie, makes you zone out, drowsy, can't do anything, don't feel like doing anything, and it isn't even *that* effective for depression. This, of course, is just one pdoc's professional opinion.

When I was on Serzone, I usually took the whole daily dose an hour or so before bedtime. Not what the package insert says to do, but it worked for me. It's actually absorbed better in a single large dose, and most of the Serzone clears out of your system in 8-12 hrs.
The daytime drowsiness *eventually* went away somewhat - took months - but Serzone eventually stopped working for me as an antidepressant too (we're talking 6-7 years here).
I took Serzone primarily because I had sleep problems + depression - if you don't suffer from insomnia, it may not be the right AD for you at all.

We are all so different. When I tried Serzone for the first 10 days I was fine then as my dose went up I had crying jags all the time. After trying it for 4 weeks and becoming agitated with insomnia; it did not sedate me at all. my pdoc took me off. I'm glad Serzone worked for you; it seems the majority of people who try it are not helped much by it.

Fascinating, and, yes, a bit scary. I've had some bad experiences on AD, as have most of us I would guess. But I believe it's worth it, for me.
Serzone is definitely capable of causing some paradoxical reactions. 99% of the time it was sedating for me. But occasionally if I took it *late* at night, say midnight or 1 AM, when I was already wired and hyper, it would guarantee a sleepless night.
Also, tried a small dose twice last in the four weeks to supplement my current Wellbutrin and overcome the insomnia. Both times it was disastrously overstimulating instead - interestingly the situation was similar to the occasional bad times I had with Serzone by itself - i.e. late at night, already overstimulated and sleepless.
