Is phenobarbital given for withdrawal still?
Is this a common practice and effective,
especially in the case of seizure, or
antiquated and dangerous?thank you

Long term treatment can damage the liver. Sucide potential. Makes one very sleepy and is very hard to get off, after even short term use. The newer anti-seizure meds are not addictive and safer.
A small subgroup of folks with seizure disorder only do well only on PB.james
