weird feeliing in myhead

Posted by Angelique on July 27, 2001, at 22:27:10

My head feels weird. Almost like a headache but not. A stuffy feeling, like ther'es something inside. I had plenty of sleep last night8-9 hours. I've been feeling slightly drugged on and off since starting neurontin. And constantly sleepy. Is this normal? Will it go away? Is this weird feeling in my head from the tiredness? From the drugs? Is it something else, like some weird headache without pain (I used to get migraines and know this is not one or a pre-migraine either). Sometimes it starts to hurt but then stops and returns to the weird feeling. It's a different feeling I think than the mild "drugged" feeling. Kind of like a pressure but I don't think it's sinus pressure, but maybe it is. What is this and what's causing it?

I'm getting sick of being tired since starting this drug, and the slightly drugged feeling I sometimes get. My mood swings are only for a few days every two months, I don't believe that warrants neurontin. My doc suggested it the first time I told her about the mood swings. Last week when I saw her I mentioned that I had cut the week before, not bad, didn't even bleed, just a scratch, that's all I ever do and rarely, but she decided she needed to drug me more after that. I said somethign about my prozac maybe being too low (hoping to switch to another SSRI) and she said after my side effects she doesn't want me on a higher dose. I'm surprised she remembered...my mom called her on that, I don't know that I told her.

I felt like s**t for a month after I started taking Neurontin, but it was initally for fibromyalgia pain, and that effect was immediate, so I hung with it. More stupidness/brain fog at each dose increase, but it's been really curative, both for my FM and my TLE, in that I was at 900 mg - a huge dose for me - and now do fine on 400.

I've been feeling something that sounds like this for a long time. Like there's something between the front of my brain and my skull. I thought maybe it was to do with tiredness or whichever depressive disorder it is that I'm supposed to have. It seems to go along with a feeling of being detached from the world. The few times when it has gone away completely, I've had this wonderful sensation of clarity and emotion, like I've suddenly come in contact with the world and I can feel everything around me. Alcohol, pot, nutmeg and my last AD (mirtazapine) make it worse; tobacco makes it better (for a very short amount of time). Does this sound normal?

I have weird head feelings (heh), and pot, SSRI's etc. makes me more anxious, and does intensify them somewhat. I think it's related to serotenergic (sp?) drugs for me. I think it's possible I have too much serotonin (I heard it's related to anxiety) so more of it makes things worse instead of better like it's supposed to.
