I take 30 mg Paxil for several weeks now and feel always sleepy. Exhaustion, poor concentration, headache. I had this bad side efects with Ceexa too (when I went over 60 mg). I tried several AD....Reboxetine was very ebergizing but it didnt helped my mood and i had side effects (urogenital pobs, increased heart rate) Should I ad a stimulant like Provigil (Modafinil) ? I take Lamictal in addition because i couldnt stick with Lithium (bipolar II).

Hello,
SSRIs used to always make me sleepy, foggy-headed, etc. My doctor added Wellbutrin, which helped somewhat. It's worth a try!

I would suggest trying these in the following order:
1) Just give the Paxil more time. Hopefully the drowsiness will let up after a few more weeks.
2) If you are still drowsy after a few more weeks, try adding Ginkgo. Take 240 mg per day (120 mg twice a day). This may help with mental altertness as well as energy. The only precaution is if you have bleeding problems.
3) If 1) and 2) don't help, maybe you should ask your doc if you could combine Reboxetine with the Paxil. Sometimes combinations work better than just one drug.

After 7 weeks on Celexa (20 mg), I have the same problem - I sleep for 9 hours every night, and then fall asleep again in the afternoon. I've been trying to resist the urge to nap, since it'll be a problem when I go back to work, but I just wind up groggy and constantly yawning. Someone suggested inositol (vitamin B8) which comes as a sweet-tasting powder you add to juice - I don't know if it works yet, since I just started, but it can't hurt to try (unless you're diabetic).
This is the end of the thread.
