Anyone out there have experience with switching from remeron to prozac? I am currently at 30mg of remeon and not doing too well on it and need to switch to something else. I am currently tapering down from 45mg and was planning on tapering down every 4 days or so until I get off of it. I was just wondering if I need to wait a while before switching to prozac or if I could take it as soon as I get off the remeron.
I am also wondering if prozac has less sexual side effects when taken every other day instead of daily.

> I am also wondering if prozac has less sexual side effects when taken every other day instead of daily.>I did the same switch and had bad results. I have gone into a bad depressive phase again. I am also feeling out of ctrl but that may have to do with my bipolar. I am now trying effexxor xr and are waiting for it to kick in (only one week).
I have heard that some doctors use Remeron for sexual dysfunction.

May I ask why you are quitting? Just not a good response?

I went on remeron about 2 months ago for isomnia and depression. Since I started on it, I am sleeping, but, not without the aid of ambien every night, so it has not helped in that department. I think I could sleep with the ambien alone at this point.
In addition, I do not think it is helping my depression. I think I actually feel more depressed than when I started and I am certainly much more irritable and angry. I started at 15mg and was up to 45mg daily but the higher dose made me so incredibly spaced out by the afternoon that I almost could not function. I am feeling better at the 30mg dose but I guess I don't see the point in continuing on a drug that isn't really helping any of the concerns that I have.
I also have OCD and anxiety. I would say that the remeron has helped with my anxiety but I am seriouisly obsessing about my weight (because I have gained about 4 pounds.)
I will say that other than being spaced out, remeron has the fewest side effects of any AD I have tried so far.
If I could just find something that would help with my depression and anxiety, than perhaps my insomnia would improve. That is why I was considering prozac. I am VERY concerned about the sexual side effects of the SSRIs but have read that some people do not experience that on prozac so I thought I would give it a try.
