Hey wants me to start on Depakote? What's that like? the Lamicital and nuerontin aren't really sufficient...we may add on moban and maybe lamictal. What are your thoughts on Depakote??

I've heard good things about the new Depakote _ER_ once-a-day formulation, which should minimize the side-effects.

Depakote was the first mood stabilizer that I tried and I'm still on it 8 years later- at a much smaller dose than originally: 250mg/day, down from 1000mg/day. When I first tried it I felt like an electrical charge had been lifted from the surface of my skin- it was an amazing feeling.

At higher doses, I get too much sedation, but when I've tested going off it entirely, within a few days I get really cranky, edgy, and generally miserable. The only downside I've found, which is minimized at my low dose, is weight gain (most of which I took off in the few months that I tried Topomax).

Now I also take Neurontin and Lamictal, a tiny dose (.125mg/day) of Klonopin, an AD (again low dose), and Xanax. It's a pretty good mix for me.

What is moban?

Good luck,
Cece
