> > For those of you who either have weaned or are in the process of weaning from Effexor XR, are any of you experiencing irritability and noticeable mood swings? I'm finding that both my 14 year old daughter and I are going through this (we have both been Effexor free for 8 days (yay!) after weaning over a 2-3 month period. I would chalk mine up to perimenopause :) but my daughter's mood swings seem worse.

I'm withdrawing from Celexa (but I have taken Effexor previously). I have noticed marked irritability as well as flu-like symptons.

> Thanks, JerzJerz, I'm finally off Effexor XR, if for only 4 days now. Going fairly well, I weaned off it very slowly after trying several every other day methods, taking 37.5mg, then stopping. Those attempts were very rough. Weaning from 37 mg to 18, then to 10-12 over several weeks has resulted in headaches, a little vertigo, and some wooshing sounds in the head, no brain zapping or other more major symptoms such as shakes/tremors, chills/sweats. But only day 4, I'll know more soon.

YES! I am down to 37.5 from 300mg. Still having a hard time. I have definitely been experiencing irritability (worse in the morning), mood swings (unpredictable, but not violent. Mostly just going from energetic, determined to stick with it, to very sad - all in the same day - thankfully not every day)and still feeling like I have the flu. There are days though that I feel very mentally alert and happy. I try to stay focused on those days and just keep on going.
