I was wondering what the most effective treatments have
been for people suffering with generalized anxiety disorder[other than benzodiazepines]?

You could try something like BuSpar, Desyrel, or Serzone--these are all not addicting. Everyone has their own opinion as to which is the most effective medication, though.
