I think that if you're having such problems with Effexor at only 75 mg, perhaps it isn't for you.
Perhaps you can get a medication that works for panic but is not stimulating, like paroxetine, buspirone, or nefazodone.

> Sal, I have to disagree with you. I had terrible anxiousness and panic attacks at night time and I was only on 37.5 mg!! However, I was also taking Xanax and finally was able to figure out that I was also experiencing Xanax rebound!
Because I was overly anxious because of past anxiety/panic attacks with true SSRI's (paxil, celexa, prosac, etc.), the only thing that got me over the "hump" was by getting rid of the Xanax and taking 1 mg. of Klonopin at night. I have absolutely "zero" side-effects at 75 mg. and great response. Some of us are just super sensitive and need a lot of support and a little augmentation to be able to stick something out. I personally can't tolerate Xanax at low doses (0.25 mg) for longer than 3 days before I start rebounding like crazy! Rebound anxiety, in my opinion is worse than the original anxiety. Just food for thought. AnneL

If the Paxil was working for you, it is perhaps a shame that you went off of it. Maybe you could have augmented it with methylphenidate, dexedrine, pemoline, or modafinil to get rid of the drowsiness. And if one of those medications didn't also get rid of the weight gain, you could have added buproprion or topiramate (which could kill your appetite).
