Just started Paxil on sunday. Doc told me to take 20mgs but I'm starting at 10 instead. The thing is it's making me very nauseous. How long can I expect this 'lovely' side offect to last and will it come back again when I increase the dosage to 20mgs?
And, is it ok to take an anti-nauseant with it?
thanks all
Tina

Tina - The nausea should only last a week or two. It is one of the start-up side effects. Have you tried taking with food? You could use an anti-nauseant like Gravol or Bonamine; it may help or it may not. Hang in there; this too shall pass.
Also, starting at a lower dose is often helpful. Many people start low and work the dose up. Just make sure that your doc knows of this.
Hope this helps - Cam

I've been taking Paxil for ~3 years. I always have to take it with food or it makes me nauseous.

After 3 years it still makes you nauseous if you don't take it with food? Oh lord, I don't think I can stand it much longer and I've only been on it for 5 days.
I think I'll stop it and ask pdoc for something else. The side effects aren't worth it.
