Hello,
I am starting Adrafinil 300mg/day (I am in day 3).
I do not feel any stimulation or increase in alertness.
I sure get gastrointestinal distress (a bit of constipation, the feeling of having taking someting that disturbs your system, altered depositions color) and a light headache. Difficult to tell exactly.I do not know what to do...quit? increase or decrease the dose?. I am not sure if this is good to me...
Besides, I have read phenylalanine+deprenyl increases PEA (phenyletilamine) with good results. Could I add this combo to Adrafinil?.
Thanks for your comments.Maniz

Maniz,
I've been taking Adrafinal for about 2 1/2 weeks at a dossage of 300 mg. I also experienced headaches which were controlled using Ibuprofen. Lately, i notice I'm extremely light sensitive, light headed and suffering from mild insomnia. Unfortunately, no real positive effects to speak of. All of these side effects I have experienced with other AD's.I'm going to stay the course and perhaps back off a little if the side effects become too severe. Sorry i wasn't able to provide you with any concrete suggestions, but i figured you appreciate hearing my experiences just the same. Good luck and please share any helpful information you come across.

> ManizHi Maniz,
If you find side effects overly troublesome, you could reduce the dosage to 300mg once every other day instead of daily. Do that just long enough to allow your body to become better adjusted to the new medicine. If however the side effects are really really troublesome, then stopping altogether might be best. I would try reducing dosage first though and give it a good 4 weeks before making any changes. During that time you could increase the dose anytime you feel confident about it.

Thanks JohnL
Do you think it is possible to cut a 300mg pill in half and take half a day?
Do you take it with or without food?
Will adding phenylalanine cause overstimulation?
Well...enough questions, sorry

>Hi again Maniz,
Good questions. I have cut Adrafinil tabs in half. No problem. You could try that. You could take one half in a.m., one half at lunch, or just one half every day, or whatever is comfortable. I have taken Adrafinil with food and on an empty stomach. Seems to make no difference to me. Phenylalanine could cause overstimulation, but there's really only one way to find out. In general though taking supplements of various kinds, such as phenylalanine, has not been helpful to anyone here that I can recall over the years. I think it looks better on paper than it does in the real world. But who knows. In the world of psych treatments, I have come to realize that what my favorite pdoc always told me is true..."anything is possible".With Adrafinil I think one thing to keep in mind is that in my own experience I have found it is magically better as an ingredient in a cocktail than it is all by itself. It seems to have some kind of special synergy with Prozac, Zyprexa, Amisulpride, or any combo of them. Just something to keep in mind.
