I have had a stressful few months and have been taking ativan..2 or 3 times a week to help with my anxiety and panic attacks...i now think that I may be addicted and start to have withdrawl symtoms after not taking it for a couple of days. I haven't been able to access anything on the internet that gives specific withdrawl symtoms. I have pressure in my head(not severe) and tingling sensations, primarily in my head, trunk and arms, is this a symtom of ativan withdrawl?

more than likely yes, and yes it IS possible to become addicted to ativan, you must be VERY careful with ativan or you could become addicted, buts thats just my advice, I have known other people who were addicted to the drug, that is why I say this, I dont have any experience with ativan myself, I have never taken it, I have read about the drug and from what I read it seems that ativan was supposed to be a safer less addictive drug than other older benzos, but time has proven that it is not much different than the others and can be just as addictive, thats just what I read, other people may tell you something different, you must use your own judgement, regards

I agree, you are likely experiencing addiction
side-effects. Sounds a lot like my Klonopin
side effects after it pooped out. I would consult
with your doctor and try to taper off the ativan.
Asj about using an anti-convulsant like Neurontin (which I am using) or Depakote. Both are non-addictive and may help to relieve the anxiety withdrawl especially the tingling. Another option is to take a beta-blocker like propranolol during the tapering off. However the beta-blocker is not as good a suggestion if you are prone to depression.Good luck,

I would not think so. I have been using Atavin 2-3
times a week for years and can go off at any time
with no problems. I use this dosing schedule to avoid tolerance and addiction. Did you have problems on the days you did not take Atavin ? I would suspect you would feel bad on the days you did not take Atavin, as is not long acting, and not just after you totally stopped if you were having withdrawal.pat
