please suggest. I am currently on Clomipramine. 20mg/night. I a student, 20yrs old, male. Also, is there anyway to prove that I really have these disorders? I mean, could it be that I wasn't meant to take the pressures of life?

Both are equally as effective in depression and OCD. And one will work for some people, the other will work for other people. But Clomipramine has more of a chance of causing sedation, anticholinergic effects, and sexual dysfunction. Also, Paxil is a lot safer in overdose.
Most of the bad effects of Paxil and Clomipramine can be remedied by Urecholine and Methylphenidate (rx only).

Thanks SalArmy4Me. If I request to my doc to switch me to Paxil or whatever new drug is out because, I am yawning all day, is there a possibility it may not work?

A guarded warning Dubya, if you're changing for that reason alone. Paxil gave me, & a few others I know, CHRONIC yawning (when Clomipramine didn't @ high doses). I've tried practically every AD out there & none of them had the yawn-inducing effects of Paxil. OTOH it could work out great for you. There's really no way of knowing (in answer to yr question).

I took clomipramine for several years and yawned all the time -- it sucked. I didn't even know that the clomipramine caused it until much later, thanks to doctors who apparently don't think I have the right to know what is going on with my own body.

WOW, the docs really fooled you I guess. I found on my own, after 4 weeks on taking it (I started taking 10mg for the 1st 3weeks and recently, I was upped to 20mg). I noticed an urge to feel tired/nappy all day. Also, I started yawning like 5x more than I used to. Doctor never told me about this, I figured this out on my own, much like you did.
I am in Canada, just outside of Toronto. PHoenix Girl, if you reply, can you mention how many mg or what your dose was when you had Clomipramine?

is advertised for Social Anxiety/Social panic is they got approval first from the Government (FDA?)by going through all the testing.So in other words, Its just an advertising advantage. its a strong drug, and its NOT "unique" in its actions.Treating social anxiety aint easy, You sometimes have to Gut it out for a while
