I am on the end of my second week taking no Effexor at all. I went through the 3 week weaning process and now am on no medicine. I have found that I am having EXTREME irritability and mood swings.. Is this something anyone else has suffered with? How long does this last..if you know? This is NOT the problem I was put on Effexor for but it is a huge issue I am dealing with since the reduction and elimination of the medicine. I seem to have gone from the original flu like symptoms... to the dizziness... to the crying... to the mood swings...to the EXTREME irritability. Any encouragement that this will go away would be a great help!! I am dealing with a doctor who does not think there are withdraw problems from Effexor so it would be nice to hear I am not going crazy!! Thanks - NMichele

I am now on 37.5mg coming from 225mg. I can barely walk around I am so dizzy.This is my second day at this mg. I too have big mood swings. I don't have the patients I had on the higher dose of effexor.I guess my real fear is what it is going to be like in a few days when I'm completely off.

"N Michelle" ~ Irritablity is my new middle name lately. Had today not been my youngests 4th birthday, I would've pulled the blankets over my head at 10 a.m. and called it a day. Instead, I felt my heart race, felt the pure exhaustion, and was just plain nasty to my kids (Happy Birthday, Son!) I'm so tired of being tired... I accomplish NOTHING since going off of Effexor. Everything just seems so huge and overwhelming to me. I'm thinking I need another med, that counting to 10 just ain't gonna cut it! But I can't risk gaining any more weight and I know I couldn't handle another withdrawal.
I, along with yourself, will keep checking this "thread" to see what others have to say (in between naps, that is)!

Mine lasted about 1 1/2 week but I will tell you the strangest thing...taking cold medicine helped. I took Advil cold and Sinus and it made it bearable. I read that advice on another post and it worked...at least it made me a great deal less dizzy. Maybe that would work for you too. I still have a few times I feel dizzy but NOTHING like the first week and a half. But it does go away thankfully. Now I just have to deal with these moods and being soooo mean!! My friend who is a nurse told me to stick it out for three weeks. She said my body is kind of at the "freak out" stage because for 2 1/2 years it has had this constant medicine and now there is none. She said it really takes about 3 weeks. Good luck!! Please know we are doing this with you!! - NMichele

I had intense physical pain all over my body when I came off Effexor. The only thing that worked was xanax. It numbed the pain. Its about the only thing I can recommend. Sorry.
