Hello,
I am on Ativan 2 mg a day and find that it works great for the chronic anxiety but the panic was still hanging out. This causes my agoraphobia to rear its ugly head. My doctor wants to add xanax into the picture. I have read that it is a more powerful anti panic drug on Dr. Shipko's site. I am suppose to replace one dose of ativan with a dose of xanax and see how I feel regarding the panic. The pharmacy said this was safe to do as ativan and xanax are very closely related. Have any of you had great results with ativan or xanax? I really am not interested in feedback regarding withdrawal and all that. I am an ER nurse and understand the implications. I have had panic for 12 years and never took medication for it until now. I want my life back and not to live in a two mile radius of my home. Yes, I have done CBT, exposure therapy, bio feedback, relaxation, relearned to breathe, hypnosis, couch therapy ect... the origin of my panic is genetics and I believe it will be a life long issue. By the way there is a great paper on this link on panic disorder.
