Prozac: Side Effects Dosage?????

Posted by shady on January 26, 2001, at 12:08:23

I'm very curious whether anyone has experienced:
excessive yawning and severe motion sickness
as a side effect of Prozac??

I've never seen them noted anywhere as side effects, but for me there is an indisputable correlation between my experienceing motion sickness and excessive yawning and my taking of Prozac. They do seem like bizarre side effects to me.

Also, I must mention that I do take 80mg a day--the recommended max dosage. I've found that only on this dosage, do I notice a real effect. Has there been any evidence yet that such a high dose taken for years at a time is dangerous or has negative consequences?

Many thanks.

I had the excessive yawning thing on both Paxil & Prozac. It seemed dose-related (ie. more prevalent @ higher doses) & whilst I agree it can be a little disconcerting at first, I don't think it's anything to worry about (my pdoc didn't seem worried). If I remember correctly it seemed to dissipate a little with time.

Can't help you with the motion sickness, tho' I do seem to remember reading about it as a possible side-effect.

Jah.

I can't answer your questions but I can tell you that gingerroot is excellent for relieving motion sickness. Take 2-3 capsules 15-20 minutes before riding/flying or whatever makes you sick.
