Hi all,
Hope 2001 is treating everyone well. A question or two re: Wellbutrin. I recently added W/B @ 150 mgs per day to my existing meds which are:
Remeron @ 30 mgs
Buspar @ 30 mgs
Adderall @ 30 mgs
Levothyroid @ 150 mcgsI've been on W/B for one week and I've noticed that the W/B makes me really irritable and a bit confused for the first 4 or 5 hours after taking. I have not noticed any improvement in the depression yet but I know that one week is not long enough.
Any thoughts on whether the irritability and mental confusion I'm experiencing from W/B will diminish over time, and if so, how long. Also, how long before I should start to notice an improvement in mood.
Many thanks.

I was given Wellbutrin to help me stop smoking. It only made me crabby as hell and I had to stop taking it. Sorry this doesn't help.

The irritability should wear off in a couple of weeks. You'll also experience a period where you will feel very energetic. It was nice -- boy did my house get clean!! This effect also will dissipate, however, which is when the drug actually starts kicking in (I'm told). So when the energy dies down, don't think that the WB is pooping out. Rather, it is just beginning. I would give it 6-8 weeks.
I found I've had to give up caffeine on WB (I take 400mg/day) as it made me too jumpy. You might try this. It might help with the irritability. Just a thought.
Good luck.

I haven't had any irritability on Wellbutrin (300 mg). I think it took just over a month before I really noticed a difference in the depression, but it was well worth it. I actually think it worked better after I dropped the Effexor (I had been taking them both for about six weeks), but I'm not sure if that is they didn't work well together or because it just took a little longer for the full effect of the Wellbutrin to kick in.
It has worked as well as Prozac did for me (which has worked the best), but with none of the side effects.
