Have been on Prozac for 7 years. Currently take 60mgs a day. Been suffering from severe anxiety and doc just put me on Neurontin. Started today at 100mg three times a day. Was wondering about side effects. Feeling kind of racey, kind of like I had way too much sugar. Doc did briefly mention this as a side effect which would subside. Looking for anyone who has had similar experience and how long the side effects lasted. Also, timetable for increasing dosage..

Marvin, tried Neurontin back in October. Took it for a month. Real low dose of 100 mg a day at bedtime. I am real sensitive to meds.
I did not too well with memory, concentration and fatigue problems. It made me tired all the time. It did help me get a good night's rest, though.
I, too, have problems with anxiety. I can say that Neurontin really helped with the anxiety. I just couldn't deal with the side effects. I need to be sharp and motivated.
Hope this helps. Buspar helped me years ago when I had a bout with panic.

I take neurotin with prozac too. It's been a
really good combo for me, and helped a lot with
my anxiety. I really didn't experience any side
effects, which I was glad of. I started out on 100mg
and increased weekly by increments of 100mg until
we reached 300. Then I gradually started taking three 300 milligram
tablets a day (900 mgs) 900 was good for awhile, and then
i found my anxiety increasing again, so I increased it
another 300 mgs (1200 mgs), and that seems to do the
trick. I like it. I LOVE that I get no side effects,
and it helps me to feel more mellow without feeling drugged.

Marvin:
Still getting some stimulation from the gabapentin? I did for several weeks at low doses (300mg). The stimulation was a welcome benefit. But the effect wore off.
On the other hand, for me, the gabapentin gives the venlafaxine a good kick up and I've been able to lower the AD dose.
This is the end of the thread.
