I've been taking wellbutrin 2x150 mg for one week and a half.
I feel much more depressed and sick now. Shall I continue ?

I'm only taking 150 a day and I feel totally miserable. I'm extremely aggitated, worried, tired and unable to sleep.
The only good news is weight loss which is great as I gained 30 lbs on Zyprexa.
Should I continue? Or should I possible add another med.
I'm still taking Zyprexa.Thanks.

Sigolene and Natg,
I can definately empathize with your struggles as I have been there, done that. I'm sure everybody else on the board can too.
As to whether to continue your meds, that's hard for me to say since I am not a medical professional. Personally, when I have felt alot worse on meds, I haven't continued with them, especially, if I see no signs that they are going to help. The reason why I continue to stay with the Prozac that has caused me alot of problems is it has shown signs that it can be very helpful.
Other people on this board who are very intelligent and have well thought out opinions would tell you to stick with it because the side effects do disappear. Interestingly, my psychiatrist said that those people who do the best on medication respond pretty quickly. But then again, he was the same person who said nasty side effects can disappear so go figure.
Forgive me if you've mentioned this already but what types of drugs have worked the best for you?
When I decided to switch from Zoloft because of weight gain, I felt that since it had worked very well for quite awhile, along with Adderall, I thought that my best bet would be Prozac. While it definately hasn't been a panacea, I don't think I'm too far off track. If you decide that you want to switch from Wellbutrin, and drugs like the SSRI's and SSNI's like Effexor haven't worked, maybe it's time to look at Mood Stabalizers like Lithium. Also, if you got a partial response on an SSRI or SSNI, aumentation with a stimulant, lithium, and naltraxone (sp?) has worked for people.
Anyway, please keep in mind that I am not a doctor
and was attempting to summarize the helpful posts that I have seen on this board. Hopefully, I have given you some things to think about that will facilitate your decision as to whether to continue with the Wellbutrin.Shirley
PS-I tried Wellbutrin for about 3 days and hated it.

It's three weeks for me on Wellbutrin (I had been on Serzone but it pooped out after a year and a half). I felt the things you describe. I was given Ambien to sleep, which only gave me some brief shallow sleep. Now I've been given Klonipin to sleep which works. Now that I am sleeping the Wellbutrin seems to be helping. I can't say the world looks rosy, but I'm out of that black pit. For now.

I've been on Wellbutrin for quite a while with no bad side effects, and when the depression comes, I bump it up to 450 mg. daily. The raise in dosage makes a difference - but it needs to be a slow raise, per doc. Good luck!

Please keep me informed if you feel better.

> Hi Sigolene,
I gave up on the Wellbutrin. The depression was too intense for me to handle.
I went back to Prozac, it seems it is the only AD that enables me to function.
But unfortunately, I'm experiencing some side- effects that are really bothering me.
I was hoping that Wellbutrin would be the answer. I may try it again but I'm thinking of giving Effexor a try. I'm puuting all med. trials on hold until I see my Doctor.Best of Luck to you. Are you feeling better?
Let me know.

I can now tolerate half dose of Wellbutrin, but my depression is still there. I try to stay on wellbutrin for 3 weeks. I really don't know what to try next, i already tryed everything...
Effexor is probably a good choise for you if you tolerate Prozac. Good luck. Sigolène.> > It's been two weeks for me too now. But i had to decrease the dose from 300mg to 150 mg because i felt seek. I'm still depressed but i carry on with wellbutrin one more week, and we'll see...

It took me longer than 3 weeks before the therapeutic effect of Wellbutrin became apparent. It also took a couple of dose increases. Now the change is quite apparent.
