My dr. stopped me cold turkey . I seemed to have every thing wrong with me. I had know idea that it was the side effects of effexor. I just thought it was a reaction to other medication I was taking . Went to hospital E.R. thinking it was a allergic reaction and was treated as so. Then the symptoms got worse, my heart rate kept jumping up & down. I was scared !!!! I still don't know all the side effects and withdrawal signs. But called my Dr. and told him I thought it was from stopping COLD TURKEY. He then put me back on it in order to taper me off . Just the one dose already has helped.

I tried to taper off, for about a week and after that, oh my god, the dizziness, nausea, and feelings
of not wanting to get out of bed were horrible.
Nothing i did stopped the dizziness!@!!
I finally refilled my last script thank god I had one refill, and after a week of feeling
like crap, yelling screaming, puking, and feeling dizzy, i took half a pill, and an hour later,
man i feel great
i took 40 granules out of 5 pills. i took one one day, the next two days, i have taken out 2 more granules.

My cranially rectally inverted doc did the same thing and the pharmacist was just as clueless as he. Have been taking one quater of one pill (was on 3 pills a day) for the last 3 weeks and all is fine and dandy. Figure giving my body time to adapt is the best remedy!

Is your doctor a psychiatrist?? I hope not!!
You should never stop an AD cold turkey.I am glad that you managed through it though. Don't ever let another doctor tell you that!
Good luck.
