Has anyone had to switch from the timed release Effexor XR to
Effexor? I had to since I get my meds from Hospital Dr.
here free through Patient's Assistance Program since I cannot
afford the expensive drug, Effexor. I do not have insurance. They made a mistake and ordered the wrong thing so now I am
switched to regular Effexor and this seems to have caused a problem.
Got bad headaches and just feel strange - kinda spaced out.Effexor XR helped my tension headaches, depression, and panic attacks.
So now I am bummed, since I started having the headaches again.
I started the switch about 2 or 3 days ago. I have taken Effexor XR since
July 99.Can anyone tell me if this is a common problem?

I once went from using Effexor XR to Effexor. My doctor had forgotten to write the XR on the prescription and I used it until my next visit (about two weeks). I did not notice any difference, but I am on a relatively low dose (150 mg). I think you may notice more at higher dosages.
You might want to ask your doctor (if you haven't already) about splitting your dose - half in the the morning and half in the evening, since the regular Effexor doesn't have the sustained release that Effexor XR does.

I agree. You might even consider 3X a day if 2X doesn't work.
