NEED SOME HELP

Posted by angelrose on October 22, 2000, at 22:01:35

Hello,
I think I'm going to bottom out as I'm waiting for my next appointment with my new PDoc in 2 weeks.
I'm back on Prozac. I could not tolerate the side- effects of the Wellbutrin and the Paxil quit working. I'm feeling depressed, no anxiety-- I guess, that's the one thing that the Prozac is helping with, but I'm feeling like a complete zombie. I'm exhausted all the time. My thyroid level is normal, I had that checked out.

Anybody, have suggestions??

Amisulpride?
Adrafinil?
Lithium?

I do not want any more weight gain, I've already put on 20 lbs or so in the last year.
I have a history of addiction-- food and alcohol-- so no stimulants for me.

Thanks.

Hang in there!!
Did the Prozac work and then poop out or did it never work?
The poop out problem is something that seems to happen more than most doctors say I 've heard that augmentation strategies such as Lithium, Depakote,
anti-psychotics can often help. If the Prozac isn't helping at all I think I would change anti-depressants and not bother augmenting it. Sounds like the Prozac is not hitting the target,
another SSRI will often work if one fails. One that addresses your particular chemistry without aggravating other systems I recommend visiting
www.drjensen.com, he has a great book about chemical imbalances. He says that low serotonin isn't always the only problem causing depression sometimes there can be other chemical disturbances
in the brain that cause depression. You can find the book on amazon.com. Best of luck and don't lose hope it will get better!

God Bless, MK1
