Numbness

Posted by LizG on October 10, 2000, at 16:54:09

I have been taking the tri-cyclic antidepressant Dothiepin for some time now and I am experiencing numbness ie a feeling of 'nothing' not happy not sad not interested ....not anything.

Has anyone else experienced this with this drug or any other? Is it a common side effect of all AD's or just this one?

Liz, I've experienced the feeling of numbness with most AD's I've taken (Prozac, Luvox, Zoloft, Effexor-XR) except Serzone. Am currently taking Effexor-XR 375 mg/day, Serzone 75 mg/day, and Seroquel 125 mg/night, and think that the impact of my Mom's recent death was probably muted, for me, because of the numbness. On the other hand, the meds did help me cope. Depression too can give a feeling of "numbness" so it's hard for me to tell whether the numbness I feel is due to the depression or to the meds.--Cindy W
