Hi,
I'd like to know if anyone has had their depression lessened by taking SAMe at only 400mg per day. I read that 1600mg/day has been effective, but alas I would not be able to afford to take that much, so I'm wondering if only 400mg will help even a bit.
(I'd also be taking Zoloft & Lamictal.)thank you,
anita

A few people on this board (including me) had initial good reactions followed by poop-out. I still take 400mg/day, as augmentor, because it seems to give a slight energy boost.

> Funny you should ask...I'm in the midst of trying to use Sam-e as a catalyst to pull myself out of a hole. It worked like a charm this last time, and I'm trying to decide whether to keep taking it or just use it intermittantly like JohnL. I have taken every AD except Wellbutrin and Serzone, and experienced either intolerable side effects, no AD effect, or poopout, so this Sam-e has been great for me. I'm energized, focused, and feeling that all is right with the world. Two weeks ago I hated everything and everybody and had wasted an entire summer as a result of having no motivation. I take 400 mgs. a day and no other medication.

Thank you for your responses -- makes me feel that maybe there is a chance that SAMe might be of some use. I am going to try amantadine first, but if that doesn't work out, I think I will try SAMe next.
