Ive been on Effexor XR for about a month

How long should it take before I start seeing results?
Also, I am gaining weight-is this a side effect? Things I have read say
it does not cause weight gain, but weight loss. Whats up with this?
Also, for the past week, ive been having strange dreams. This seems to have started
when i started taking the 150mg a day instead of the 75. Do these dreams go on all the time or do they
stop after a while?

Doodlemail, when I started Effexor-XR I noticed a change in the first two weeks. I've lost about 15 lbs (have been taking it about 9 months, and am on 375 mg/day). Sometimes people gain weight when the depression starts lifting (food just tastes better and when you're not depressed, you feel like eating again). It makes it hard for me to sleep and I rarely remember my dreams now...count your blessings you can still dream!!! Hope it gets better. If you don't see results, talk to your pdoc and see if it's the right med for you (I've heard various estimates of how long a med can take to show its full effects, from 6 weeks to 3 months).--Cindy W
