OK.. ~takes deep breath~
Bit of an embarrassing one really...
I am sweating like a very sweaty thing on this effexor, but knew that was to be expected.
But, has anyone else experienced alot more "vaginal secretions"? This is driving me a bit mad as it's really, really increased. I know it's not a sexually transmitted disease as I'm married, and I odn't have thrush or anything.
Just wondered if it was connected to the meds.

Nikki, I haven't noticed more "moisture" or whatever...but do notice that Effexor-XR doesn't interfere with arousal or orgasm like other meds I've tried (Prozac, Luvox, Zoloft). Doesn't sound like a problem to me! ;)

Nikki,
Haven't experienced what you're going through, but I've noticed urinary retention. Has anyone else?

N-
I sweat horribly, but haven't really noticed an increase in secretions. However, I am on hormone therapy, and that may regulate whatever mechanism would cause that. With my experiences so far, it wouldn't surprise me at all if Effexor is causing your problem!

Is urinary retention like not going when one needs to? Or, going but not getting it all peed out?

Good question!!! I am using the term in the manner of the first half of your response. Can't go when I need to, like my muscles don't want to let loose even though my bladder feels full and I know I have to go. (It's not like my bladder isn't completely emptying; that feeling that comes with a UTI where you feel like you have to pee every five minutes and only a trickle comes out.) Sorry for the graphics.

Re: secretions----could be. Seems like more moisture, not sure if it is from vagina or urethra. Some strange cycle changes--have bleeding for a couple of days, real light, and it stops, then comes back a week or two later, and again, etc. My pdoc says these meds can affect prolactin levels, which affect all of the hormonal system.
Re: retention: YES. I have to focus myself, a la meditation, to empty the bladder, but ALSO, have some incontinence problems, too--frequent urgency, loss of control, and often need to go frequently, but only a little comes out. Mostly, though it is the having to focus and do deep breathing to open the valves.

Nikki, my trousers definitely need washing more frequently, as they stink, this is the case since being on this med.
