Jacquie - I have seen the bruising with SSRIs a couple of times. Once with Prozac and the other time with Zoloft (I think). Prozac would not be a good idea because of its long half-life.I don't think reboxetine is released in the U.S., yet, but I'm a Canuck, so what do I know. We don't even have mirtazapine(sp?) - Remeron. I do know that reboxetine is being used in a clinical trial at our University Hospital with some success. One of our pdocs hinted at some problem they were having with it (I was led to believe it was side effect related). It is a different drug from the, SRIs as it blocks norepinephrine reuptake (eg. probably good for depressed people who do not respond to the SRIs; ie have a noradrenergically-based depression). I have no clinical experience with it and know only what I have read on this board and in a couple of journal articles.
Why no go with the Wellbutrin?
Hope this helps - Cam

> thanks Cam! I would love to go with Wellbutrin, but docs here won't do it. I have asked and asked. I have read good things about it. They all think I will have a seizure...i have no history of seizures....i am putting in a call to psychiatrist and will ask him. thus far all med people want me on ssris.....well celexa was good, but boy i paid a hefty price in lack of sleep and teeth grinding...broke a tooth actually! $840 later for a crown...yikes. You take Wellbutrin...what are your thoughts? How long have you taken it? side effects?

Jacquie - I have been taking Wellbutrin for a second time since August, 1999 (I think - I'd have to ask my pharmacist). The first time I took it for about 9 months, but I did relapse within 2 years.I really have had no side effects except for the initial tremor and edginess. Also, I had a brief period in the first month where I would become extremely irritated at minor inconveniences, but that passed in about 2 weeks. If I take it after 4:00pm, I find that I do have trouble falling asleep. If I forget to take it before 4:00pm, I usually forgo the dose (unless it is a weekend and the garage needs cleaning.
One other side effect that I had was that I quit smoking without even trying. I did not smoke that much (pack of 25 in 3 or 4 days), but even now when I go to the bar with my father-inlaw and everyone is smoking, I do not have an erge to light up (or bum a smoke).
I have personally been involved in 2 cases where a patient at the clinic experienced a seizure while taking Wellbutrin, so it does happen.
This has been my experience. - Cam
