Zoloft and weight issues question

Posted by Lynne on May 26, 2000, at 21:01:54

Has anyone had any weight loss while taking Zoloft? It has been approved for binge eating disorders. But, I have read that most people gain weight from Zoloft. Is it because it makes you eat more, or changes your metabolism?

I actually lost about 15lbs within the 1st 6 months of being on Zoloft. However, I was also very active and always careful about what I ate. The Zoloft just reduced my appetite, and I then reduced my portion size. My appetite returned to normal within the next year. Also, the Zoloft was prescibed to me for depression - not binge eating.

I was on Zoloft for only a few weeks and gained
weight. Same with Prozac.
