Does celexa really work? If anyone has had great success with this in the long-term I'd love to know. Been on it for a little over a month now and I expected a bit more from it. Being labelled a Miracle Drug up here in canada, I gotta say I'm a little disappointed. Anyone else feel this way?---Tina Hugs to all.

Ask your Dr to switch to Lexapro (US) or Cipralex (Canada), generic Escitalopram. It is the active form of Celexa. My pdoc said it the fastest acting SSRI, with 200% the effectiveness and 10% of the side efects of Celexa, and my experience confirmed this.I've been on it for a couple of months (10-20 mg./day). Compared to Celexa, which drove me crazy with anxiety and had liver interactions with trazadone, it's night and day. Maximum efficiency, fast acting (days-1-2 weeks, YMMV), minimal side effects -- typical SSRI loss of libido and some mid-aft anxiety were the only S/E I experienced, and I'm very sensitive to SSRI S/E.
I don't know why Celexa is sill marketed - perhaps because it's cheaper than escitalopram - or natural market inertia - pdocs prescribe it because it is familiar.
