Thank you for the useful reference. I think I'll send in my $5 for postage and handling rather than trying to print a 106 page PDF document. I was especially glad to see the up-front statement of who paid for the research and the financial interest of the authors and (potentially) other participating physicians. That sort of admission is the only thing that makes information such as this truly useful and reasonably credible. Good for them for being honest about it.

Thanks Blue Cheer - Downloaded and printed it at work. Very, very good reference for medications for bipolar disorder. I also printed out the 86 page Schizophrenia Consensus Guidelines as well. Also seems to be a good resource.

BTW. Blue Cheer? Owsley? I guess I should sign off as "California Sunshine" or "Windowpane", but I will sign off as - Cam W.

Cam not only "got" it, but added to it! I'm astonished! Cam W., you old barn-burner, I thought you were about 20 years too young and about 1500 miles too far north. Like, wow!

Any other readers notice the typos, poor grammar, and errors in usage and punctuation in this report by a bunch of friggin' medical geniuses? I hope their knowledge of manic-depressive disorders is more comprehensive than their knowledge of written English.

More to the point, for the two of you with the patience to have read thus far: what do you think of the dictate that a diagnosis of bipolar ALWAYS indicates combining a mood stabilizer with an antidepressant (as opposed to the use of an antidepressant without a mood stabilizer)? Am I just an exception to the rule? Am I getting a "mood stabilizing" effect from thryroid, a beta blocker and a stimulant? I don't think so....

Didn't I see you at the Renaissance Faire in Malibu in 1969, man? There was a guy there (could have been you, Cam) with a lamb on a brightly colored ribbon-leash. I asked him, "What's your lamb's name?" He said, "'Sunshine' if you're a vegetarian; 'Chops' if you're not."

See you at the next love-in at Griffith Park.

You-know-who ;-)
