Thomas - Unfortunately sexual problems with Effexor XR usually do not go away like most of the side effects of this drug. Many treatments have been tried, but the reviews have been mixed. Viagra allows you to function, but the desire remains low. Adding Wellbutrin helps in some people. Yohimbine has been tried. I'm sorry, but there is no universal cure for the sexual problems, yet. Ask your doctor if he knows of any solutions. As for the sleepiness, are you taking the Effexor XR at night or in the morning? Many people can take this drug once daily and taking it in the morning may help with the sleep problems. Many only this website have used low doses of the antidepressant Trazodone (25mg-150mg) at bedtime and have had restful sleeps. Ask your doctor about it.
I hope I have been of some help - Cam W.
