Hi there---just thought I would throw in my two cents about EMDR. I have using it with a therapist now for almost 18 mo. No, it is not a miracle technique that delivers swift and permanent positive change---but I have been in therapy for years now dealing with some intense childhood stuff, and I can say that I have noticed undeniably real shifts in how I cope with stress and how I view the world around me. I am finally feeling some real hope in regard to breaking thru negative beliefs/behaviors. So, be patient---it takes time and committment--the hardest part is finding a therapist that you really trust and can go deep with.

Sophia,
I'm scheduled to start EMDR soon. I read that it
is supposed to work quick but your experience has
not been that way. I'm doing it for PTSD, anxiety/
depression/panic. Is it something that you can
finish in a predetermined time, or is it open ended
where you never finish? I don't want to go into it
open ended. Also, how many sessions did it take for
you to notice that it was beneficial? thanks much
This is the end of the thread.
