For Cam, re: Effexor-XR

Cam, you mentioned that at various dosages, Effexor-XR affects different neurotransmitters (serotonin, norepinephrine, dopamine). At what dosage is each affected, and what is the impact on depression and/or OCD? Thanks!

Cindy - Effexor is an SRI at doses to approx. 375mg; SRI + NRI at 375 - 600mg and >600mg SRI +NRI + DRI. As has been said before, your mileage may vary, due to individual physiologies. For depression, depending upon the type, it may work better or it may not (sorry, can't be clearer than that). For OCD, it is probably better to stick to a SSRI as OCD is thought to be a serotonin related problem. Hope this little bit helps - Cam W.
