Hi, I would like to hear from people who have had success treating panic attacks using a stimulant along with their AD to help with the apathy and weight gain. Thanks Gloria

Hi Gloria,
Waaaaay before I even considered taking a stimulant, klonopin put the lid on my panic attacks. SSRIs I had tried with it also helped with my anxiety-related issues, but not my depression. Switching to a TCA (nortriptyline) takes fairly good care of the depression, but some of the anxiety (more along the lines of OCD-like behaviors than panic attacks) came back with a vengeance. I've been on Ritalin now for a week; within a day, it had started easing the rest of my anxiety. So go figure this one out somehow -- between a benzo and a stimulant, my anxiety/panic seems to be down for the count.
cheers,
bob

I got rid of my panic attacks with Klonopin and Paxil. Since then I have switched the Paxil to Nortriptyline without a problem. A little over a month ago I added Adderal to the mix and have not had a recurrence of the panic attacks yet. I don't see where it would hurt to give it a try.

two votes for nortriptyline, klonopin, and a stimulant. none for anything else. See how easy it is?
(you da man, ChrisK!)
