AD called Vivalan

Posted by SIGOLENE on March 3, 2000, at 15:29:57

Do someone knows (already heard about) this AD ?
what experiences ?

It's supposed to be a stumilating AD which acts first on NE. Maybe good for me. (not anticholinergic)

Sigolene.

I *believe* it's a selective NE reuptake inhibitor that's marketed in France and maybe a couple other European countries.

All noradrenergic drugs have the potential for some anticholinergic side effects, but AFAIK (if this is the stuff I'm thinking of), V is not a direct cholinergic antagonist.

I was there for 3wks.Things weren't to bad for about a month. then I go depressed again not as severe this time ,but I did have to go to the dr. again. He tried numerous things but now I'm on Effexor 75 mg. 3 times a day, Klonopin 0.05 4 in the am. & 4 in the pm., also 200 mg.of Elavil at bedtime. I obsered your chat and decided you knew alot about depression than I do. I just wondered if there was anyone out there who could help me? I am tired of feeling numb I;m not happy and I'm not sad ,just one day I would like to feel happy to be able to laugh and have some energy. Instead of just going thru the motions. So is there anyone out there?

Hi,

Sorry, I really would like to help you, but I don't know all the meds you are taking. Because in Europe we don't always have the meds you have in the US. Or the name change. I don't know what Elavil is, nor klonopin. Is it benzodiazepine ?
But I advise you to start a new thread, with a good surprising title, I'm sure you get then a lot of answers to your question. If you don't find a good suprising title, just write "please help" and ask. (It's better to talk about substance in the med. than the brand name of a med, so that everyone can understand.)
Good luck.
Sigolene.

Hi Leigh Have you tried WellbutrinSR? It seems to be pretty energizing for lots of people. I was taking effexor and WellbutrinSR together for a while and I thought I felt better. (Unfortunately the Wellbutrin gave me hives so I had to quit.)

I've also tried small amounts of methylphenidate (Ritalin) in the past and it provides a little energy boost.

Do you get any exercise? Even a 30 minute walk a day can be energizing.

I assume your taking some kind of thyroid replacement and keeping a watch on that. I don't really have any personal experience with that.

I took Prozac for years after it first came out and it turned me into a zombie-but I was so apathetic I didn't care. I don't know if anything you're taking could do something like that but it might be worth experimenting or researching to find out.

The only thing I really have to offer is encouragment. I don't think you should have to settle for just not being sad. Maybe somebody else has some suggestions for you. Good wishes A.

Leigh, hang in there and talk to your pdoc. Things can get better. Sounds like you've been through a lot! Am taking Effexor-XR too. Don't forget that people on this board are here for you.
