shell-shock or everything comes in three's

Posted by dove on February 28, 2000, at 19:46:30

To Noa and others feeling a little shell-shocked, I think this board has seen some heavy fire the last six weeks or so. It has felt so heavy lately. There has been so much pain. more than normal it seems to me, though maybe I'm wrong? There seems to be an unusual amount of hurting here, even within the ranks of regulars. I have the tendency to disassociate, or run away from other's pain. I'm so afraid of writing something wrong, something that might cause more pain, and I have to be honest, speak honestly, anything less is empty words. But when you put so much into people, and so much into this cocoon, this haven called babble-land, and it starts to strike at your heart, it's a heavy thing.

We do care about each other, and we care about newbie's and regulars, and people's parents and children and doctors. There are so many vulnerable people on this board, and yet, they're the ones who understand the most when hurting people call for help. I've seen the outpouring of yourselves, so many of you putting your heart on the line, reaching out when you are in need yourselves. I know how hard that can be, and I know the weight, literally the weight that these actions demand and place upon all involved.

I want to thank all of you who have risked so much, both giving and sharing, you're the hands reaching from the quagmire and the hands of safety stretching from dry land. All of you are these and more. I want to send my absolute gratitude and my prayers, and don't carry the burden alone, that's what this is all about.

Dove, Thank you. That was so amazing. Thank you.

Thank you, because what you wrote is helping me feel more connected, and you have validated what I have been feeling.

You are so gifted and so giving.

you can write girlfriend! After your children grow you could have yourself a new career.

It's the time of year - January and February in the northern hemisphere. I have a theory (very unscientific) that most all mental illnesses are at their worst during this time of the year. don't ask me to back it up. take care dove, Janice
