Hi, I could use some advice. I have been on Celexa for 31/2 months for panic and OCD. I am frustrated with the weight gain and being tired. I can't cope at work and depression from weight gain. It did work for the panic and OCD, but I would almost put up with the attacks then the weight gain. I do excersise and eat sensibly. I go to the doctor on Thurs. and could use some advice on what maybe to try next or to augument the Celexa with. I tried Wellbutrin but was not to good for anxeity. Thanks Gloria

Hi Gloria,
Some people find that the various SSRIs differ a lot in terms of their side effects. If you've had a good response to Celexa but are annoyed by the fatigue and weight gain, you might first ask your doctor about a careful switchover to either Zoloft or Prozac. Of the SSRIs, these seem to be the least frequently associated with the drawbacks you've encountered, though everyone reacts differently of course.
best of luck,
jd

> Celexa is not supposed to cause weight gain. At least that is what I have read and have been told by my doctor, MSW and psychologist. I just started it 4 days ago and choose it over Paxil because of the NO weight gain effect.

I feel that Celexa has caused me to gain weight, but so far the benefits of coping with stress more effectively have compelled me to stay on it anyways. I'm determined to start a good exercise routine to help curb the weight gain. Wish me luck, and I wish you luck too, Gloria.

> CassBe aware that you may gain weight as muscle weights more than fat, however you will be fitter and better off all around if it's a good work-out routine and you do it consistently!

I don't know much about meds and OCD, but prozac really helped my anxiety/panic and I lost 20 lbs. Good luck!

Thanks GloriaGloria, I take Effexor-XR 300 mg/day and it seems to help without a lot of weight gain (although I need to lose about 30 lbs. to start with!). It seems to help with depression and OCD, although I still have a ways to go.--Cindy W
