Sex/SSRI's/EFFEXOR, REMERON

Posted by Ruth on February 7, 2000, at 9:40:38

Hi Everybody--

It's the same old sex and AD's question from me. I've
tried a lot of SSRI's and had really frustrating sexual
problems. Lately I've been on disipramine--which had
no effect on my ability to reach orgasm--but I didn't
have much of a drive, and it wasn't as good for my
depression as prozac.

My question is--I've heard a lot of people say that
Effexor is BETTER than the SSRI's in this regard, it
dosen't totally solve it, but it's an improvement...
Any feedback?

Also been thinking about Remeron (already tried Serzone
and Wellbutrin and they totally disagreed with me)..
I'm concerned about weight gain--has anyone out there
NOT gained weight on it?

Any suggestions welcome--Thanks!

Ruth

Ruth, I empathize with your dilemma. Prozac, Luvox, and Zoloft really shut me down. Serzone helped, but didn't help my OCD. Effexor-XR hasn't interfered with desire, arousal, or orgasm, for which I'm thankful. From what I've read, though, people react very differently to AD's, and that trial and error is the only way to find out what will work for you. Effexor has really helped me. Talk to your pdoc about it and see what you think!--Cindy W
