Hello all. I'm a 23 year-old college student. I have a literary agent and am preparing a proposal for a book about the experiences of young people who have had depression and the ways they've dealt with it or are dealing with it. You have to be between the ages of 16 and 30. For your experiences to be included, you'd have to sign a release form, which I would email to you to print, sign, and mail to me. If I decide to include your entry when the book's finished, I'll pay you $50. Please reply to my email address directly, and keep the response to 600 words or less. Email me even if you're just interested, or to tell me you're going to write something. Thanks.

You may be able to experience depression for yourself - first hand.Just go to your G.P. and ask him/her to put you on a combination of reserpine and Inderal. There's a good chance it will work to cause in you a biological depressive state. Of course, there is no guarantee that any doctor will be able to reverse the abnormal neurochemical processes of your brain.
- Scott.
P.S. If you gain significant insights and perspectives from the experience, I want 30% of the proceeds from book sales, even if it works out to be less than $50.

There are some posters to Babble who should be writing their OWN books. Adam, Scott, Noa, Elizabeth, JohnL, and others. We have all been very moved by their stories. Adam seems to be young, very articulate and extremly intelligent. He has had a very dramatic life. I believe these folks could write QUITE AMAZING books. Why not think about that, Adam?...and you other amazingly kind and articulate folks. Sincerely, CG

Adam, I often have felt that YOU should write a book. You COULD do it. You have all the components needed.

Speaking of regulars...where has Bob been lately (the guy who had tons of trouble with his employer)? Did he announce he was leaving the board for a while?

He didn't. He has told me he's been absent from here because of how busy he is. He is starting a new job.

LOL! I once ran across a poem by an MD in the editorial section of a journal bereaving the loss of affect occasioned by taking Inderal for hypertension. I'd love to find it again because it captureda subtle effect of that drug.On another note, I've used reserpine to "jump-start" an MAOI. Quite effective.

Can you tell me a little more about your experiences with it?
A long time ago, I had seen a few reports of reserpine pre-treatment being used in a similar fashion with tricyclics. I never followed-up on it because there were so few. Since I seem to be partially responsive to Parnate and Nardil, I would be very interested to know how you went about it. What were your experiences with the MAOIs alone that motivated you to try it? Did you go through hell initially?
Thanks.
- Scott
