Haven't seen you round these parts since about 5 days ago. You were headed for a pdoc appointment, I think. Just wanted to know how you are doing and how your appointment went, etc.

Not good news, Noa. Got uh, downsized at my job Friday! I managed a furniture store and did it well, to everyone except the owner. He has the cash and gave me a measly severance or an offer to stay on in sales. As if?
So, my depression hasn't been doing well and now I need to find another job, hopefully something I can stand, within about a month.
Send me an angel.Phil

Geez, Phil. That is NOT good news. Did you see it coming at all?
How bad is your depression right now? Are you seeing your doctor?

Depression is not good. I see my doc tomorrow.
I don't think the Lithium has helped so I hope she has some fast acting ideas up her sleeve!I had an idea it was coming. The guy that owned the store was the son of the founder of the company. I frankly did not like him and I don't think he ever liked me. I was very vocal about many things the company didn't do to service their customers and I don't think he liked hearing that!
This was a Danish owned company and if you weren't Danish, you were not in the loop. Ever try to run a business and have no info?
The company knew of my depression and that certainly didn't help matters but I can't prove anything in that area.
I am happy to be out of the circus but, Noa, I don't have the slightest idea what to do next.

Phil, what dose of the lithium have you been on? I found a big difference after increasing to 1200 mg./day.
Give yourself a bit of time to figure out what you want to do next. I don't know where you are or how old you are, but there might be some groups for people suddenly in the job market. Or a vocational counseling service that could help you figure how how to proceed. Hook yourself up with some support.
I lost a job once. Did not see it coming. I was totally bereft. It had been a great job. My emotions went all over the place for a long time afterward. Fortunately, I got some support from some co-workers.

Noa, I called my doc last week about increasing the dose, 900 presently, she said that was as high as she would go for augmentation. I think my last pdoc wouldn't have blinked.
Anyway, I'm 46 and have a month or so to find something! I am not independently, or otherwise, rich. I'm usually pretty good in a crises since my life has pretty much been a continual crises.
With the combo I'm on, I don't really want to drug test. I don't think employers are very open minded, in general.Phil

Dear Phil,
I am so sorry about the rough break you're getting pounded with right now. This has got to be pretty scary, I know I would be frantic to say the least. I hope your doc has something to offer you, either in meds or in lip-service, you need a lift-up right now. You're in my thoughts and prayers, keep us updated, we care about You!

Dove, Thank you so much for the kind words. And you are right, frantic is how I feel.
Just went for a 3 mile walk around Town Lake here in Austin and that helped-may do it again tonight.
I've always been able to get by in situations like this but the older I get the harder it gets.
I appreciate the prayers.Phil

Phil, you can tell me to shut up if I am harping on this. Did you have blood levels done on the lithium? The mg you take isn't as useful a guide for safety as how much is concentrated in your blood. If you are well below the range of concern, there may be room for more.

I brought this up to my pdoc and it didn't matter-she won't go above 900. I have an appt tomorrow and get to discuss it in person. If she has no great ideas then I will go for more Li.
I'll also tell her that Noa is really getting PISSED at this whole situation! :-)
Thanks Noa,
Phil
