Posted by kelly on January 4, 2000, at 21:22:41

My husband has to go to court on the 7th & i well be going w/ him for support. this has been going on for almost a year now and it's starting to wear us down,it should of been over in sept but there's and det. that is making it more then it is,i should tell you that he worked w/ this det. and it might be something personal.
i don't know what to do to calm down and stop thinking the worst,(more court or jail). I been thinking that if i died he could fight this w/ my life insur. money.
but it might not help. what can i do to stop being so worried?

For one thing, get that idea about the life insurance out of your head right now. Hurting yourself or wishing yourself ill would solve nothing; besides, insurance companies won't pay if they think death was not accidental (don't mean to be strident if this is the merest ideation)

I have suffered terribly from chronic worry in the past, especially during some flareups of obsessive compulsive disorder where I became convinced I had contracted an STD or became convinced suddenly I was homosexual (neither true, and neither rationally anywhere near worth the panic I experienced). If you can speak to a doctor, discuss seriously the use of some anxiolytic medications like benzodiazepines and perhaps beta blockers to help you through this difficult episode. You should be able to stop taking them when the crisis has past with no lasting effects.
