New Year thoughts and catching up

Posted by NikkiT2 on January 2, 2005, at 11:07:06

Hi..

Sorry I've been absent.. This whole Tsuanami thing has really affected me. We lost a friend in it, and 2 are yet to be heard from. Luckily "our island" was unaffected as it is in the Gulf of Thailand and so was protected.

2004 has been quite an amazing year for me.. I really ave grown from strength to strength, and have found I love to work (though in perfect world I would cut my hours down!).. I've had the whole of the Christmas period off (our building closed down) and ave actually missed it! I hope 2005 will be even better, and that the plans I have for it come to fruition.

I have also learnt to love my friends, instead of being scared of them. I met my first Babbler in the flesh (and partlycloudy was a wonderful first babbler to meet, such a pleasure), and now dream of meeting many more of you (and obviously winning the lottery to fly me round to world to do it!!)

I've learnt to love myself alot more. Learnt that just because I am fat doesn't mean I can't be liked, and learnt that just because I am fat doesn't mean I can't look good.

I've even stopped biting my nails this year after doing so since I was 2 years old!

I wish true happiness and understanding for all of my very very dear friends here.. I am sending out so many vibes to you all so you can grab some of what I have had this past year.. I could never have done it without the support fof you guys.. To be able to come here and say what ever I wanted and no I wasn't going to be abused for my feelings is such an awesome thing.

So remember, I love you all (and I'm actually saying that sober this time), and would do anything if it meant happiness for you all.

Heres to a kick a*s 2005

Nikki xxx

Hey, Nikki, I have actually been thinking of you since the Tsunami--you are the only person I know who likes to vacation in that part of the world. I'm so sorry about your friend. Tho I know the odds are not good, I hope the others do turn up ok soon.

As for your year, I'm glad to see you assessing it in this spirit! Goodonya!(as Deb and Rach would say) and might I add: OYOYOY!! (in the Australian sense, of course, and not the Yiddish sense, which is just about precisely the opposite!)

YOu continue to amaze me and I'm proud of you, workin' girl!

Nik,
Woo hoo! You go girl!!!!

What a great job you must have to actually miss it! Hearty congrats! and hopes for a great 2005.

I, too, am sorry about your friend. What a tragedy. when I worked at MIT (Cambridge, Mass.) one of the profs I worked for was into tsunami prediction.

I am glad to hear your life is going so well, and I'm sure you (being who you are) will continue to have a better and better life. You are an asset to us here, a ray of hope, a person with a good meds cocktail, a "well, it could happen!" a la Judy Tenuta!

Have as much fun as you can, ok?

Shar

Hi Nikki - what a lovely post.

I am so glad your island wasn't hit, but am very sorry people you know were lost. When I read in a newspaper article about a surviving tourist wondering what happened to the man wijth his pet elephant, I thought of "your" beach & hoped beyond hope that it was okay. Well, I'm so thankful it turned out to be safe!

I am VERY much looking forward to meeting you when you are in Canada. Do you have any more details yet?

hugs, from your 'petal' ;-)

Kath
