Awesome title for a post eh?!
But, saw the gastroentorlogist today.. and I don't have hemmorhoids.. Which means there is some other reason for the bleeding.. and the mucus..
There is some kind of stomach problem too..So I have the joys of having an endoscopy and colonoscopy. Not sure whats scarier- the procedure itself, or the 36 hours of no food and "cleansing" of the system before hand! Eeeeeeewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww
That won't be until March though thanks to the wonders of the NHS waiting lists.. I feel my life is all spent on waiting lists for the damned NHS these days *l*
Ho hum I think is the phrase I am looking for!! No.. the phrase I am looking for would break the civility guidelines and probably would make my Gran blush *L*

N--
Well, the very FIRST time I encountered hemmorhoids was when I was about in 3rd or 4th grade in elementary school. I was reading a magazine and it had an ad for a hem. product.Well, of course I did not know what that was, so I went into the living room and asked my dad, "What are hem-horrids?"
lololol.
After giving birth, I came to know....
Best of luck to you, and it IS a long time to wait! However, it is good that you can get checked out/treatment/etc. In the US if you don't have medical insurance or cash, we can f'get about it. I know I have a lump in my breast...diagnosed when I had insurance. We were gonna 'keep an eye on it' and then my insurance ran out. And, that was 3 years ago. Haven't had it checked out since then...in the US it does not matter if you don't have dollars.
ewwww, I hate people that preach! And I AM one!! How awful!
Wishing you the best,
xoxo

Shar, is there no state plan to help cover some health care costs for uninsured folks? (I'm anticipating the answer since I know the state, but hoping maybe I'm wrong).
Free clinics for breast health? Nothing?

Well, Niki, I've had an endoscopy. It was OK -- especially the drugs they put you under with. Then I got to see the full color photos of the inside of myself. I hear colonoscopy is not so fun. Having to wait until March would drive me (more) crazy.
Shar, I agree with Noa... isn't there SOME place that will help? I have often heard that there are foundations/charities that provide mammograms for free to those who cannot affort one. My mom had breast cancer. Alcoholism killed her first, but it was scary just the same.
Thinking of you both.

Nik,
I'm very sorry for hijacking your thread. I do so hope you can cope with waiting until the months go by, and that your tests will be negative (benign or whatever). I'm very sorry you're having to deal with this on top of everything else. With respect to my situation in Texas (Noa and Allison) here's the pickle.
I don't need a mammogram. I know I have a lump in my breast. But, what will another mammo accomplish? Confirmation? I could afford a free one, but not a low-cost one.
And, if I had a free one, that showed I had the lump still...then what? I can't do anything about it.
Well, I could sell my car, and divest myself of all 'assets' (clothes, household items, etc.) in order to afford state help for medical care, and maybe then get medical help.
I suppose my feeling is, why bother. I'm looking for work, if I find a job with health insurance I will definitely have a pap smear, mammo, etc. If I don't find that job, well, then, that's ok, too.
Why prolong everything? I just want good hospice care. And, as a hospice volunteer, I know they take 'charity' cases.
Thanks for your conern! You all are very sweet!
xoxo
